Peace Love Mud – volleyball tournament

Posted by WillTerrell On June - 20 - 2009

I do a lot of freelance work in between the comic book stuff. This was an illustration for a mud volleyball tournament August 29th with the local school district and the “Communities In Schools” program. This was made with a relatively new process for me, I sketched the design in pencil and then created the illustration with the pen tool in illustrator. Its a great technique for t-shirts and logo design. It keeps things very clean and versatile. I tend to do the initial drawings still in pencil because it keeps the spontaneity that a lot of artists lose with all digital work.

2MT caricature Logo

I did this caricature for a Podcast called 2MT – it stands for Two Mikes and a Todd.  Pretty clever.  I bet their pods are clever too.  Go listen to them cast them! (Obviously I’m not too hip on the intertubment casting business.)

Last minute commission that came in last night. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. If I have time (and if anyone is even interested) I may upload a demo for this one. I saved the different steps. I did the B/w with crowquil. And colored it in photoshop.

New painting. Did this a couple nights ago. It’s a reproduction of an old Jack Cole playboy cartoon. I really dig his stuff. I’m really enjoying watercolors now too. –Will Terrell

"Death and Sandman" – 11×17, cell paint.

Posted by WillTerrell On December - 16 - 2006

I started this painting about 3 years ago. I drew the figures and partially painted them. Then got stuck. I was feeling artistic tonight after the store signing and when my first painting messed up (I ended up finishing it too after this one) I still wanted to paint so I grabbed this one that’s been laying around the studio hurting my feelings since ’03. It feels great to tie up old unfinished business, doesnt it. I think it turned out pretty well too.
