super zeroes warm-ups

Posted by admin On November - 3 - 2011

I hadn’t drawn Rosina in a while by the time it was her turn to come back into the story. In fact, I had never really felt comfortable sketching her when she was first introduced. So this is one of many sheets of me working through her poses.

I am a huge believer in letting a characters personality show through in their actions. The way they walk, stand, sit… act! All of those things should work together to establish a characters personality – and their interaction with others – before they even open their mouths to speak.

If you haven’t read it yet– Super Zeroes is my webcomic that updates every Tuesday and Thursday!

Super Zeroes update

Posted by admin On July - 14 - 2011

So this is pretty much my favorite panel I’ve drawn for Super Zeroes thus far. It makes me laugh every time I see it.  I hope that everyone’s checking out the webcomic by the way. I’ve been updating every Tuesday and Thursday for a few months now.

Wonderwut sketches

Posted by admin On October - 21 - 2009

Now that I’ve finally introduced this little guy in Super Zeroes I can share a few sketches of him.  He’s one of my favorite characters.  He makes me smile every time I see him.  What do you think?

Life drawing Sketchbook pages

Posted by admin On October - 15 - 2009

Technically, these aren’t from my sketchbook.  They’re from my clipboard.  I’m finding it easier to do layouts on loose sheets of paper than in a sketchbook.   This is also an example of sketching from life and applying it to the super zeroes character designs.  For instance, the second sheet, was from my lunch break today.  I was noticing how the birds under the truck were total sillhouttes and seemed to be part of the shadow.  Also, the way that the girl in the corner of the restaurant sat with her arms and legs all gangly.  The frumpy kid with the sloth walk too was something.  Most of these are memory sketches.  I’ll take pictures in my head and walk away to draw them when I get back to the studio.  Its very helpful practice.
The top sheet, by the way are sketches for today’s strip over at www.Superzeroes.net if you would like to catch a glimpse into my process.

This is one of my favorite panels so far from Super Zeroes.  I like the character interaction.  And the colors turned out alright too!

Potato – Super Zeroes

Posted by admin On October - 13 - 2009

I did this sketch this weekend at SketchClub of Potato, the bulldog from Super Zeroes.   I love bulldogs.  I think they’re adorable.

This sketch was done with prismacolor pencils, ad markers, white out and brush pen.
