I don’t know what these are.  I can’t tell if they’re cute or creepy either.  It’s just what I was in the mood to draw at the sketchnight tonight.   They oddly remind me of my friend Nate Bramble’s art style, only completely different.  Check out his comic if you get a chance.  Great stuff!

UFO – digital sketch

Several of my friends from the Lubbock Sketch Club and from around town got together and pitched in to buy me a new drawing tablet to replace my old one that has been hurting my feelings for nigh on two years now.  It was a complete surprise and a real blessing.  Its a new Wacom Intuos 4 tablet.  My old one was a 3.  I didn’t even know they had 4′s out yet.  Its pretty awesome, with a lot more short cut buttons and a touch ring that works as both a zoom, and can toggle through several other convenient options.  Its really amazing.

Its been kind of rough month.  But all of a sudden, I’m with a new laptop, with all new adobe suite, and a new drawing tablet.  I’m really looking forward to diving 2010!

So this is my first official digital sketch with the new tablet.  Amber is really into UFO’s and aliens right now, so I guess this drawing came out of that somehow.  I think he’s cute. This was about an hour in Photoshop.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, blessed Christmas and New Years.  Keep smiling!

This is an old drawing from me that I ran across on my harddrive.  From 2004 when I first started working with water color.  Aliens Vs Predator if drawn by Charles Schultz.  Classic!

I can’t tell you how long I’ve been struggling to come up with a logo/mascot for our next convention.  Even after I started working on this one its taken me a half-dozen attempts to get it workable.  I hope people like it.  I figure if a giant atomic monster were to ever rampage through Lubbock… it would probably be a prairie dog.  Now there’s a monster movie!

Lady and the BlackLagooner prisma marker tag-team sketch

Posted by WillTerrell On May - 20 - 2009

My friend Steve Wood drew this killer sketch at a sketchnight a while back.  I went over it with Prisma markers to demonstrate how they blend, and to show how to add some darks for contrast into his coloring technique.  The result was something pretty cool.  He’s a fantastic cartoonist, and it was really fun being able to work over his drawing.  I’d like to do more stuff like that.

He’s working on a blog right now, I’ll post a link whenever he gets it running.

Monster sketches

Posted by WillTerrell On December - 17 - 2008

Here’s some quick little monsters for you. I got the idea to do these from one of Bobby Chiu’s inspirational videos. The first couple ones are his little monsters and then I went on and tried a few of my own. These were a lot of fun and I’ll prolly keep doing more of them. Each one took about 10 minutes in photoshop.

Here’s the video…

ps. it’s really bugging me how blogger doesn’t reduce these images down to thumbnails anymore. I think I’m supposed to upgrade or something. I’m working on a new website anyways. You’ll see this change in the next couple of weeks. Keep an eye out!

Xmas Monsters

Posted by WillTerrell On November - 25 - 2008

My lovely girlfriend Amber and I go sketch pretty often together. I feel really lucky to have someone as awesome as her to hang around with, let alone draw silly cartoons with. Tonight we did some holiday themed monster sketches for the Strathmore “artist trading card” project. You mail off some sketches done on their trading cards and someone somewhere will send you one of theres. These are our monstrous attempts.
