I found this charming cowboy at the mall this weekend. His gut was most impressive. Oddly, I started noticing more and more feathers in cowboy hats after seeing one in his. And the feathers just seemed to get bigger and bigger. Also, I really like how the texture styrofoam cup turned out.
These are a few of my sketches from the past week. Lots of walmart people, and a few from the mall. Lots of character this week.
I loved the security guard in this first one, he came in all flustered, with a baby blue bicycle helmet on, and his pants leg rolled up,
scrambling to get some food before his shift.
The next Lubbock Comic Book Expo is coming up in April. This is our 5th year hosting it, I can hardly believe we’ve made it this long. And in fact, we have ALREADY sold out our tables for this show! We’ve never sold out this quickly. I take it as a good sign. Here’s a little graphic I’m working on for the convention site… (ain’t he cute?!)
I did an interview last week with Darrel and Thomas from the ARTZEN podcast. I really enjoyed it, I hope you’ll give it a listen. We talk a lot about what it takes to succeed in comics, and I talk about my career some. I try and get across some of the hard lessons I’ve had to learn in my career and in the development of my art. Hopefully there’s lots of good info in there for you. Please share if you get something out of it.
Thank you again Darrel and Thomas for having me on. I really enjoyed the discussion.
