drawing figures 1-23-2012

Posted by admin On January - 24 - 2012

I was able to make it out to figure drawing group tonight. I decided to stick with col-erase colored pencil tonights since that’s what I’ve been drawing with a lot the last week or so. I like the results. I try to stay with red/orange and blue for most of these. My thanks to Lando for hosting the group this week. If you’re in the Lubbock/West Texas area and you’re interested in figure drawing, please visit our site at www.drawinglubbock.com for updates on figure drawing dates and times.

Walmart sketches – 1.19.2012

Posted by admin On January - 20 - 2012

We had a good group of marks at the walmart this week. It was a lot of fun trying to catch them all. Although we did get busted. Which almost never happens. Luckily everyone seemed to really enjoy their sketches.

Sketchbook – January 15 2012

Posted by admin On January - 18 - 2012

These are some of my favorite sketches from the last week. These are actually each from a different place. I try to do at least one sketch when I go out in public. It helps keep me loose so that by the time I get back to the studio I don’t have to spend a couple hours getting warmed up to work.

I will be in Dallas this weekend, for a bit of an inspirational respite/sabbatical. If you are a fan of Super Zeroes, or a webcomic artist in the DFW area, I would love to meet you. There will be two opportunities this weekend, hopefully you can make it out to at least one!

I’m getting a group of webcomics people together Saturday at Chipotle on 75 and Forest Lane in Dallas. We’ll be there from 7-10 probably. And Sunday night from 6:30-9:30 I’ll be at the Drink and Draw at the Flying Saucer. You can find more info for that on the drink and draw site HERE! I hope to see lots of awesome people this weekend. Hopefully you’ll be one of them!

Mal and Chad Fanart!

Posted by admin On January - 6 - 2012

I recently did some fanart for my friend Stephen McCranie that does the wonderful all-ages graphic novel Mal and Chad! I was finally able to meet this awesome creator in Albuquerque a couple months back when my wife and I were driving back from LA. Its always such a relief to meet other people that do what you do, and to find out that you’re not so crazy, given all it takes to make good comics. Stephen’s Second Mal and Chad book  is being released very soon! If you’ve got a young reader (or like me just really like fun stories) you should definitely GET THIS BOOK!

Biker Tattoo

Posted by admin On January - 2 - 2012

It’s been a while since I did an actual illustration (been a while since I had time!) But I finally wrapped up all of my 2011 projects just in time for the new year. What a relief!

I started this last night, and finished it up today. That makes it officially my first drawing of 2012. Hopefully this year will be as blessed as last year.

This painting will be at the Intersections: Art and the Body  art show this Friday from 6 – 9. I’m putting it up for sale for $250. Email me if you’re interested.

The painting is watercolor, pen and airbrush on 12×8 bristol board.
